Bay Area White Crane Silat trainers follow the teaching methods and standard system of movements established by the PGB Pusat in Bogor, Indonesia. PGB has 18 belts ranging from white (new student) to gold (grandmaster).
Expect to spend at least 6 months training for each beginning to intermediate level up to the light brown belt, then a minimum of 1 year for advanced training for each level through the second degree black belt.
Obtaining a light blue belt signifies that a student may begin studying to become a trainer if so desired.
Dark blue and black belts tests are conducted at the Pusat in Bogor, Indonesia. Only the Grandmaster, Suhu Gunawan Rahardja, has the authority to award black belts signifying full trainer status.
Bay Area White Crane Silat hosts at least one belt test every year, usually in Autumn.
The 2016 Western Regional WCS belt test is scheduled for Saturday, October 22.
The 2017 Western Regional WCS belt test is scheduled for Saturday, September 23.
Students interested in taking a belt test should confer with their trainers at least three months before the belt test date.
Trainers are asked to forward lists of participants to belt test organizers at least a month before the test.
